U.S. Marshals have captured Ivan Barias-Florimon, 24, in the Bronx, New York, two months after a fatal home invasion in Milford, Connecticut. The incident on June 3 saw Barias-Florimon and another suspect, Stuar Lopez-Reyes, allegedly break into the home of Frederick Werner, 69, and his wife.
During the break-in, both victims were shot. Frederick Werner died from his injuries, and his wife remains hospitalized, recovering from a gunshot wound to the head. Barias-Florimon faces serious charges including felony murder, conspiracy to commit murder, home invasion, attempted murder, and first-degree assault on an elderly person.
Authorities indicated the attack may have been targeted rather than random. Lopez-Reyes was apprehended earlier and is held on a $3 million bond. Barias-Florimon was arraigned and remanded without bail, with his next court date scheduled for August 18. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
