On the night of October 28, 2025, a tragic incident occurred in Ghaziabad's Vijay Nagar area. A man named Ravindra Singh Valmiki, a resident of Shivpuri, Vijay Nagar, was sitting with his friend Sunny outside a liquor store when the accused, Pawan Singh Thakur, allegedly hurled casteist abuses at him.
The argument quickly escalated, and Pawan attacked Ravindra with a pair of scissors, injuring both him and Sunny. Ravindra was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Following a complaint lodged by Ravindra's brother, Jitendra Singh, the police registered a case under sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Within 24 hours of the incident, the police tracked and arrested the accused, Pawan, near the Dundahera flyover. During interrogation, Pawan confessed to attacking Ravindra in a fit of rage after the heated argument over drinks. The murder weapon has been recovered, and the investigation is ongoing to determine the exact sequence of events.
