The incident occurred around 10:30 am, with the victim reportedly having her throat slit by a sharp weapon. She was rushed to Doon Hospital, where medical professionals pronounced her dead.
Authorities swiftly arrested the accused, identified as Akash Kumar, a resident of Mannuganj. Kumar, who worked at a local shop, is now in police custody as further investigations are underway.
The violent incident triggered immediate protests from local traders. They closed Machhi Bazaar, Paltan Bazaar, and nearby markets to express their anger and demand justice. Traders voiced allegations that the woman had previously lodged a complaint against Kumar with the police just three or four days prior, but claimed no adequate action was taken, leading to the fatal outcome.
