Two former employees of A Mother's Touch Learning Academy in the north suburbs are facing charges for allegedly hitting children. Jessica Murillo, 37, of Morton Grove, faces felony and misdemeanor charges, including aggravated battery. She is accused of striking a child with a notebook, dragging a 4-year-old boy, and hitting children with an open hand.
Thompson, 23, of Chicago, is charged with four misdemeanor counts of battery. The investigation began in November when a parent reported their child was sprayed with water. Review of surveillance footage by the daycare revealed that at least seven boys, aged 4 to 5, were battered over a two-week span.
Both Murillo and Thompson are no longer employed by the academy. A Mother's Touch Learning Academy stated that the safety and well-being of children is their top priority and that they are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation by the Dept. of Children and Family Services. Murillo is due in court on Wednesday, and Thompson on March 30.
