On October 18, 2025, a tragic incident of alleged honor killing shook a village in Gujarat's Bhavnagar district. According to the police, 22-year-old Parul had been in a relationship with a man named Vivek, whom she had met on social media about a year ago. However, Parul's brother, Prakash, discovered the relationship, leading to frequent heated arguments at home.
Parul's mother, Dayaben, and Prakash strongly objected to the relationship and repeatedly tried to stop Parul from speaking to Vivek. Despite the family's pressure, Parul remained determined to marry Vivek. This tension within the family escalated, with the mother and brother reportedly worried about their social reputation and the marriage prospects of Parul's siblings.
On the day of the incident, Dayaben and Prakash confronted Parul again, demanding that she end the relationship. When Parul refused and threatened to elope with Vivek, the argument turned violent. Dayaben allegedly held Parul down, covering her mouth, while Prakash attacked her with a sharp weapon, stabbing her multiple times in the neck and body. Parul succumbed to her injuries on the spot due to excessive bleeding.
The mother and son then allegedly wrapped Parul's body in a plastic sheet, hid it near a well, and later dumped it into a nearby check dam in an attempt to conceal the crime. The incident came to light after Parul's father, Himmatbhai, learned about the killing and approached the police.
Based on Himmatbhai's complaint, the police have registered a case against Dayaben and Prakash. Both the accused have been arrested, and a detailed investigation is underway to examine the sequence of events leading up to the crime and gather forensic evidence from the site where the body was found.
