Swamp Hideout Ends 100mph A13 Chase
25 May
Summary
- Driver led police on chase exceeding 100mph on the A13.
- Suspect found hiding in a swamp after abandoning his vehicle.
- Officer and his dog Kaiser apprehended the suspect.

A high-speed pursuit on the A13 into London concluded dramatically when a dangerous driver was discovered hiding in a swamp. The incident, which occurred on January 14th, saw the suspect pursued by Essex Police at speeds over 100mph. At points, the driver travelled on the wrong side of the road, posing a significant risk to others.
After abandoning his car near Rainham, the suspect fled on foot but was tracked down by an officer and his canine partner, Kaiser. Bodycam footage captured the moment the pair found the man "cowering in swampy grassland by the roadside." The driver was subsequently arrested and has been jailed after pleading guilty to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and using a vehicle without insurance.
PC Martin Swain and his exceptional police dog, Kaiser, have received a canine crimefighting award from the National Police Chiefs' Council for their successful apprehension of the suspect.
