14 Mar
Summary
- Two smoke shops on White Street failed compliance checks on Thursday.
- Illegal marijuana products and cash were seized in the enforcement actions.
- Clerks at both businesses were arrested on drug and sales charges.

The Danbury Police Department, in collaboration with federal, state, and local agencies, has intensified its crackdown on smoke and vape shops illegally selling marijuana products. Recent compliance checks on Thursday at Cali Exotic Convenience and Smoke Station on White Street revealed multiple violations, leading to their failure to comply with laws.
During the joint effort, law enforcement seized various marijuana items, including oil, flower, concentrates, and edibles. These investigations were prompted by community complaints, particularly from parents concerned about sales to minors. Since the start of 2026, Danbury police have confiscated approximately 185 pounds of marijuana products and significant amounts of cash from non-compliant smoke shops.
At Smoke Station, a clerk was arrested after making an illegal sale of a marijuana product to an undercover DEA agent and selling tobacco to a minor. The store was found with nearly 10 pounds of raw marijuana flower and equivalent products, hidden compartments, and was issued a "Stop Work Order" for labor law violations. The business also had an expired tobacco permit.
Similarly, Cali Exotic Convenience saw its clerk arrested for illegal marijuana sales to an undercover agent and possessing nearly 15 pounds of raw marijuana flower and other products. This shop also faced a "Stop Work Order" and was found to have an expired tobacco permit. Both cases remain under active investigation by the Danbury police.
