The Telangana Human Rights Commission has ordered an in-depth investigation into grave allegations surrounding the custodial death of Dalit man Karla Rajesh. The probe is examining claims of illegal detention, severe torture, and denial of family access during police custody.
Complaints filed by Rajesh's mother and a community leader highlight that Rajesh sustained critical injuries due to alleged third-degree methods. He was reportedly arrested on November 4 and died on November 16, after being moved between facilities and hospitals.
In response to the seriousness of the allegations, which could constitute significant human rights violations, the commission has requested a comprehensive report from the home department. Consequently, a circle inspector and a sub-inspector have faced suspension or reassignment.
