Facebook Threat Lands Dad in Jail
29 Apr
Summary
- A father received a jail sentence for violating a restraining order.
- He posted threats on Facebook referencing an ex-partner and her new boyfriend.
- His actions activated a previously suspended prison sentence.

A father of two from Nottingham has been incarcerated after making threatening remarks on Facebook. Mason Jeffrey, 37, was sentenced to up to one year in jail for breaching a suspended sentence order. This action was a direct consequence of his online threats against an ex-partner and her new partner.
In February 2025, Jeffrey had received a two-year suspended sentence for assault. As part of that sentencing, a five-year restraining order was put in place, prohibiting any contact with his ex-partner. On November 29, 2025, he updated his Facebook status with a threatening message, stating, "everyone is going to get crushed."
Further messages were sent to a friend of the victim, including threats to "chop up" the ex-partner and her new boyfriend. Jeffrey pleaded guilty to breaching both the suspended sentence and the restraining order. He has accumulated 19 previous convictions for 31 offenses. The judge acknowledged a potential "flashpoint" but emphasized the seriousness of the breaches.
