On February 25, 2025, a BMW dealership in Gainesville, Florida, experienced significant damage when a customer allegedly drove a vehicle through its showroom windows. The incident occurred after Kevin Alexander Leiman, 20, was denied financing for a $130,000 BMW M4 CS coupe and was not permitted a test drive.
Following the denial, Leiman reportedly became aggressive and was asked to leave. Instead, he remained on the property for several hours before accelerating into the showroom. Employees reported shattered glass and damage to a BMW on display. The arresting officer estimated building damage at $50,000 and the BMW's paint damage at $5,000.
Leiman fled the scene on foot but was apprehended nearby. During his arrest, he made unusual statements to officers. He was charged with attempted grand theft of a motor vehicle and criminal mischief exceeding $1,000. Judge Meshon Rawls ordered his release on his own recognizance, mandating substance abuse and mental health treatment, along with a nightly curfew.
