Culver City Man Arrested for Threatening TikTok HQ

On October 3, 2025, a 33-year-old man named Joseph Mayuyo allegedly made violent threats against the TikTok Los Angeles headquarters on an undisclosed social media platform. TikTok employees promptly reported the concerning messages to the Culver City Police Department (CCPD).
In response, the CCPD evacuated the TikTok building "out of an abundance of caution." Authorities then obtained arrest and search warrants for Mayuyo's residence. After a standoff lasting over 90 minutes, Mayuyo voluntarily exited his home around 1 a.m. on October 4, 2025.
Mayuyo was arrested and charged with two felony counts of criminal threats. He remains in custody with bail set at $100,000. The CCPD executed a search warrant and recovered items of evidentiary value. "This incident demonstrates our department's strong commitment to ensuring the safety of our community and local businesses," said CCPD Chief Jason Sims.
