In 2025, actress Eva LaRue is opening up about a decade-long stalking nightmare that threatened to derail her Hollywood dreams. LaRue, who rose to fame on the hit TV series CSI: Miami in the 2000s, began receiving disturbing letters from an anonymous fan in 2007. The graphically violent threats, signed "Freddie Krueger," targeted both LaRue and her young daughter Kaya.
To keep her family safe, LaRue had security cameras installed and moved three times, but the stalker always managed to track them down. For years, LaRue protected her daughter by not telling her about the letters. It wasn't until 2019 that authorities finally arrested 61-year-old Ohio resident James David Rogers, who later pleaded guilty to federal stalking charges.
Now, LaRue and Kaya are sharing their story in a new Paramount+ docuseries, "My Nightmare Stalker: The Eva LaRue Story." "It was the most heinous, most deplorable, most sickening, most terrifying threats," LaRue recalls of the ordeal. Despite the trauma, the mother-daughter duo hopes their experience will inspire stronger laws to protect victims of stalking.
