4 Dec
Summary
- Adam Iza linked to Connecticut kidnapping plot for crypto ransom.
- Victim's parents abducted in Lamborghini during a house hunt.
- Kidnapping occurred after a $243 million Bitcoin heist.

Adam Iza, known as the 'Crypto Godfather,' has been charged in connection with a kidnapping in Danbury, Connecticut, a development that has rescheduled his sentencing for earlier fraud and tax evasion charges in Los Angeles. The indictment alleges Iza helped fund and direct a kidnapping plot from afar in August 2024.
The target was Veer Chetal, an 18-year-old student reportedly linked to a cryptocurrency heist valued at $243 million. Chetal's parents were forcibly taken from their Lamborghini while house hunting. Six individuals hired from Miami abducted the couple, binding them and beating Chetal's father before fleeing in a van.
Law enforcement quickly apprehended several suspects after a pursuit. The investigation revealed potential links between the kidnapping and the earlier $243 million crypto theft. Iza, who has denied prior connections to criminal hacking groups, is awaiting trial on these new charges.
