Civic Officer's Crocodile Meal Sparks Probe
26 Oct
Summary
- Officer allegedly ate crocodile meat on a Thailand trip.
- Travel abroad was reportedly without mandatory permission.
- Municipal body initiated an inquiry into the conduct.
A Ujjain Municipal Corporation official is facing an official inquiry following a viral video allegedly showing him and his wife consuming crocodile meat in Thailand. Building officer Rajkumar Rathore had taken leave from October 19 to October 23, but his application did not state his intention to travel abroad.
The video, reportedly shared by Rathore's wife, depicts them near a food stall, with a caption indicating they were trying crocodile meat for the first time in Thailand. This has prompted the municipal corporation to question the officer about mandatory permissions required for foreign travel.
The civic body stated that an examination of the matter is underway. Departmental action may be considered if a violation of government service rules, which mandate obtaining permission for foreign trips, is established. The officer could not be reached for a response.
