Ex-Lover Stabbed to Death Over Intimate Photos

In British Columbia, Canada, Riza Jafari has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in the 2024 manslaughter death of Fred Sangan. Jafari and his wife, Hatice Haydari, fatally stabbed Sangan, inflicting 35 sharp-force injuries with concealed kitchen knives. The attack was motivated by Sangan's sharing of intimate photos and videos of Haydari, obtained during an extramarital affair, which he then used to create a fake social media account.

Haydari had reportedly sought police assistance without success before attempting to resolve the issue with Sangan's partner. She then arranged a meeting with Sangan in June 2024, intending to retrieve the compromising material and stop his campaign against her. Both Jafari and Haydari armed themselves with knives for this meeting.

During the confrontation, Haydari threw Sangan's phone from her car, leading to a physical altercation. Jafari then emerged from Haydari's vehicle, armed himself with a knife, and joined the struggle. Following the fatal stabbing, Jafari sent a menacing message to the victim's partner. Both Jafari and Haydari later surrendered to authorities. Haydari has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and awaits sentencing.
