A man and woman in Meerut have been sentenced to death for the brutal murder of the woman's husband. The couple, engaged in an extramarital affair, conspired to kill Amit Kashyap. They strangled him and later attempted to conceal their crime by making it appear as though he died from a snakebite.
The murder plot was exposed when authorities discovered that the snake used in the staged death had been defanged and was not venomous. This crucial detail led to the unraveling of the crime and the subsequent sentencing of Ravita and Amardeep.
During the sentencing, the judge highlighted the profound betrayal of trust, noting the wife's actions against her husband were unforgivable. The court has ordered the district magistrate to assume responsibility for the couple's three children, ensuring their welfare following this tragic event.
This case marks the second such death sentence for a married woman and her lover in Meerut within a week. Previously, Muskaan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla also received the death penalty for the murder of Saurabh Rajput, Rastogi's husband. Their conviction followed a lengthy legal process involving 126 hearings and testimony from 22 witnesses, who revealed the couple had concealed Rajput's dismembered body in a concrete-filled drum.
