Summary
- A pair allegedly fled a restaurant without paying a £115 bill.
- The unpaid bill included an expensive £52 Dover sole dish.
- CCTV captured the diners, and police are now investigating the incident.

A restaurant owner has expressed deep disappointment after a couple allegedly left without settling a £115 bill. The incident occurred on Monday evening at The Custom House in Penarth, where the patrons consumed items including a £52 Dover sole and eight Cokes. CCTV footage recorded the customers, and the restaurant has appealed for their return to arrange payment. South Wales Police are investigating the reported theft from June 29th.
Owner Tanny Martinez highlighted the challenging economic climate for the hospitality sector, emphasizing that such incidents impact not only financially but also the morale of his team. The Custom House, a historic Grade II listed building with ties to a 1700s pirate, now houses two of Martinez's venues. This event echoes a previous dine-and-dash case in South Wales where a couple was jailed for unpaid bills exceeding £1,000.
