30 Jan
Summary
- A surgeon's license was suspended following a patient's death.
- The patient reportedly received banned substances before dying.
- The surgeon was sentenced to 15 months in prison.

A Paris court has suspended the medical license of a prominent surgeon, known as Guy H, and handed him a 15-month prison sentence. The ruling came after the death of his patient, Mr. Laniado, aged 65, who had been receiving cosmetic procedures.
Investigations revealed Mr. Laniado had been administered chemicals for erectile dysfunction and banned substances. The court found Guy H guilty of failing to assist a person in danger and practicing medicine without a license. His assistant surgeon, who was covering on the night of the incident, received a 12-month suspended sentence.
Legal proceedings questioned the surgeon's delay in calling for emergency services. Despite the defense arguing the cardiac incident was unavoidable, the case has cast a shadow over the high-end cosmetic surgery industry, with reports suggesting rule-bending is common among elite practitioners.
