Cornwall police are conducting a series of 'morning after' drink-drive operations throughout the Christmas season. Officers recently set up a roadside testing site in Truro, stopping motorists to administer breath tests.
During a 90-minute period, 20 drivers were tested, all of whom produced negative results. Police highlighted that alcohol processing is slow, with the body taking approximately an hour to clear one unit of alcohol. This means five pints could take around 15 hours to leave the system.
With the Christmas party season underway, drivers are strongly advised to plan their journeys responsibly. Authorities recommend leaving cars at home and utilizing taxis or ensuring a sober designated driver is available. The Devon and Cornwall Police and Vision Zero are supporting the 'Lift Legend' scheme, which provides complimentary soft drinks to designated drivers at over 200 locations across Devon and Cornwall.
