Summary
- Senior sub-inspector suspended for alleged sexual exploitation.
- Victim accused officer of exploitation during investigation.
- Officer is accused of promising marriage and then assaulting.
A senior sub-inspector, Dharmveer Shahi, posted at the Ashiyana police station, has been suspended and booked. This action follows an accusation of sexual exploitation by a BEd student. The student claims Shahi exploited her physically under the pretext of marriage while he was investigating her rape complaint.
The complainant had previously filed a rape case in Basti, which was later transferred to Lucknow. She alleged that Shahi continued to summon her to the police station, claiming the investigation was still his responsibility. He reportedly maintained regular contact, promised marriage, and offered support.
Approximately six weeks ago, the student discovered Shahi was already married. When she confronted him and insisted on marriage, he allegedly began to avoid her, assaulted her, and threatened her. She further accused him of snatching her mobile phone to destroy digital evidence.
Following the student's complaint, senior police officials ordered an inquiry. Based on its findings, an FIR was registered against Shahi, leading to his suspension. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (central) confirmed the suspension and stated that the investigation is being handled by the ACP, Cantonment. Further legal action will depend on the evidence gathered.
