Summary
- Tremane Wood's execution commuted to life in prison
- Found unresponsive in cell, suffering from dehydration and stress
- Grateful for commutation, focusing on healing from past trauma

On November 10th, 2025, Tremane Wood's life was spared at the very last minute when his death sentence was commuted to life in prison without parole by the Oklahoma Governor. The convicted murderer was scheduled to be executed for his role in a botched robbery in 2002, in which a man was stabbed to death.
However, Wood's new lease on life took an unexpected turn just hours after his sentence was commuted. Guards performing a routine check found him unresponsive in his prison cell. Wood was rushed to receive medical treatment and was listed as stable on Thursday night, having suffered from dehydration and stress.
Despite the incident, Wood remains positive and is focusing on healing from his past trauma with the additional time he has been granted. His attorney, Amanda Bass Castro Alves, stated that Wood was incredibly grateful after his sentence was commuted and is looking forward to working on himself.
