9 Mar
Summary

- Innocent officer arrested in front of family due to false claim.
- Constable jailed for one year for perverting the course of justice.

A police constable has been sentenced to one year in prison for perverting the course of justice. Lauren Evans, 34, falsely reported that she had been sexually assaulted by a fellow officer, identifying PC Alex Watson. Evans claimed the assault occurred when she was stopped by an unmarked car, and coincidentally, PC Watson was driving such a vehicle in the area.
This fabricated allegation resulted in PC Watson's arrest in front of his wife and children. He spent 23 hours in custody before detectives confirmed Evans's story was untrue. The court found Evans guilty in December, and she was later dismissed for discreditable conduct. She will also be placed on the Policing Barred List.
