Summary

- Victims claim Howlett's manipulative tactics led to financial ruin.

Joshua Howlett, a convicted conman, is under scrutiny for allegedly perpetrating a decade-long scam that has left multiple individuals financially depleted. Actor Ben Taylor claims Howlett solicited over $70,000 for three separate film projects, promising Hollywood connections and securing grants that never materialized. These solicitations spanned from February 2014 to 2019, with Taylor ultimately receiving minimal project development, a process he now recognizes as gaslighting.
Further allegations detail how Howlett defrauded a doctor of $150,000 in 2016 intended for a film called 'Better Half,' with the funds being spent on personal expenses. This occurred concurrently with Howlett's failed attempt to secure NBA star Matthew Dellavedova for a biographical movie. Dellavedova's manager expressed concerns about Howlett's character, labeling him untrustworthy and evasive.
More recently, a Melbourne couple reported being left out-of-pocket after Howlett engaged a photographer for a supposed Vogue shoot, with no payments made to the creative team. This latest trail of alleged deceit has prompted victims to warn others and consider legal action, with Howlett believed to have relocated. He previously admitted to deception in 2019, receiving a community correction order.
