Summary
- Man arrested for allegedly planning ski resort mass shooting.
- Suspect also charged in fatal fentanyl distribution case.
- Charges carry potential sentence of 20 years to life.

Nathaniel Zabik, a 44-year-old resident of unincorporated Breckenridge, was arrested for allegedly planning a mass shooting at a Colorado ski resort. The Summit County Sheriff's Office took him into custody after he reportedly made threats on Facebook and in private messages. Zabik is also connected to two fentanyl-related deaths in Steamboat Springs.
The Steamboat Springs Police Department announced that Zabik, along with Benjamin Tabor and Matthew Bentley, is accused of distributing fentanyl that resulted in the deaths of two individuals. Police have described distributing fentanyl resulting in death as the most severe drug felony under Colorado law.
Conviction for this charge could lead to a sentence of eight to 32 years in prison in Colorado, or 20 years to life if prosecuted federally. The victims' families' names are being withheld out of respect. Zabik is being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
