The case dates back to November 2nd, when a 20-year-old postgraduate student was abducted and gang-raped by three men near the Coimbatore airport. The victim and her boyfriend, who were attacked while sitting in a parked car, have since been discharged from the hospital.
The three accused, T Karuppusamy alias Satheesh (30), M Guna alias Thavasi (20), and T Kaleeswaran alias Karthi (20), sustained gunshot injuries during the incident. While Karuppusamy and Guna have been discharged from the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH), Kaleeswaran is still recovering from his wounds.
The case, which was initially handled by the II judicial magistrate court, has now been transferred to the additional mahila court. The investigating team has submitted a plea before the chief judicial magistrate court for the TIP, which is expected to take place inside the Coimbatore Central Prison once all three accused are discharged.
