A violent assault on August 17th near Periyanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore district has resulted in the death of a 34-year-old labourer, V Pradeep. He passed away on Wednesday night while receiving treatment at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.
Initial investigations by Periyanaickenpalayam police indicate that the assault followed an argument. The dispute arose when Pradeep allegedly borrowed a phone from one of the accused, S Prakash, and failed to return it. Enraged by this, Prakash, along with three other individuals, reportedly attacked Pradeep on a vacant plot.
Passersby discovered Pradeep severely injured and immediately transported him to the hospital. After Pradeep's death, the case was reclassified as murder.
