A Cleveland mother, Aliyah Henderson, 28, entered a plea of not guilty on Thursday to charges related to the deaths of her two young daughters. Their bodies were discovered buried in suitcases at Saranac Playground on March 2. The judge set Henderson's bond at $2 million, a figure requested by the victims' fathers.
Henderson faces charges including aggravated murder, kidnapping, and endangering children. The victims were identified as 8-year-old Mila Chatman and 10-year-old Amor Wilson. Their bodies were found by a man walking his dog, who noticed a partially buried suitcase.
A memorial for the girls has been established at the playground, and a funeral was held on Wednesday. Another child who lived with Henderson has been taken into the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services. Henderson's pretrial hearing is scheduled for April 7.
