The "Justice Unresolved" series revisits cold cases, including the baffling disappearance of Ciera Locklair Breland, who vanished from Georgia more than four years ago. Ciera, aged 31, was last seen on February 24, 2022, at her mother-in-law's residence in Johns Creek. Her husband, Xavier Breland, filed a missing person report on February 26, claiming Ciera left their home without essential items. However, this account was met with skepticism by both law enforcement and Ciera's family.
Xavier Breland soon stopped cooperating with investigators and was identified as a person of interest. The Johns Creek Police Department took the lead in the investigation, despite the report being filed in Indiana, due to Ciera last being seen in Georgia. Security footage confirmed her presence at her mother-in-law's home on the night she disappeared. Ciera's mother stated that her daughter had intended to leave Xavier and not return to Indiana.
Court documents revealed Xavier's involvement in an "accidental discharge of a firearm" incident at a Baldwin Lane residence. He had a prior felony burglary conviction from 2005. During the firearm investigation, police were presented with Ciera's missing person flyer. Xavier claimed she had walked to a nearby store in cold weather, but surveillance footage did not support this, and her family was informed she never reached the store. The case continues to be a source of distress for her loved ones.
