Pizza Scam Foiled: Ex-Laker Christian Wood Fires on Burglars
7 Dec
Summary
- Intruders used a pizza delivery as a ruse to check if Wood was home.
- Wood fired three shots at masked suspects who smashed his rear sliding door.
- No one was injured, and no property was taken during the home invasion attempt.

A sophisticated home invasion attempt at the Sherman Oaks rental home of former Lakers player Christian Wood was thwarted when Wood fired shots at the intruders. Investigators believe the suspects employed a pizza delivery tactic to ascertain if anyone was present before attempting the break-in.
On November 5, a Domino's delivery driver arrived at Wood's Airbnb around 12:30 PM. Wood, who was inside, did not answer the door as he had not ordered any food. Shortly after the driver departed, three masked individuals smashed the rear sliding glass door and entered the residence.
Wood reacted swiftly, retrieving a firearm from his bedroom and discharging three shots, which prompted the suspects to flee the scene. A subsequent investigation into the pizza order yielded no leads, with the phone number used to inquire about the delivery producing negative results. The suspects remain at large, but thankfully, no injuries or property loss were reported.
