A woman accused of attempting to murder a child has admitted to tampering with his medication. Emma Jane Williams, 41, from Erdington, was arrested in January after a hidden camera recorded her injecting a substance into the boy's medicine.
Appearing in Birmingham Crown Court, Williams stated her intention was not to cause serious harm or death, believing it might only give the child an upset stomach. She also admitted to searching online for substances to mix with the medicine. Williams denies a single charge of attempted murder.
She described her actions as "wicked" and expressed a desire to "put things right." The jury heard that Williams initially lied to police and claimed not to know who tampered with the medicine on previous occasions before the camera was installed. The trial is ongoing.
