Tragedy struck an industrial estate in Arbroath when a nine-year-old girl was found critically injured. The incident occurred at the Elliot Industrial Estate around midnight on Sunday, August 2. Emergency services, including three ambulances, responded to the call received just before midnight.
Three patients were transported to Ninewells Hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service. The young girl was among those taken to the hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. Police Scotland have confirmed the child's death is being treated as suspicious. Officers arrested a 35-year-old man, who was known to the girl, in connection with the incident. Authorities are not seeking anyone else.
The girl's family, who are from West Yorkshire, had been camping in the vicinity of the industrial estate. Witnesses reported seeing the family camping by a roadside manufacturing facility earlier that evening. Floral tributes have been left at the scene, where a significant police cordon has been established.
