Jerry Lewis, a prominent 67-year-old Chicago contractor and developer, was fatally shot on Tuesday near the United Center. The incident occurred just before 1 p.m. near West Madison and South Leavitt streets.
Lewis was reportedly walking between offices when he was approached by two gunmen who opened fire. He sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head and was transported to Stroger hospital, where he later died. The Cook County Medical Examiner has not yet officially identified the victim.
Authorities have not determined a motive for the attack. However, Chicago police are currently questioning two people of interest in connection with the shooting. Lewis was known for his significant contributions to the construction community and his involvement in Project 1901, a large development around the United Center.
