Three individuals have been apprehended by Chennai city police in connection with the murder of an 80-year-old woman, Radha, who lived alone in a T Nagar apartment. The arrests were made on Friday, following an investigation into the incident that occurred on August 13.
Radha's son, Ramji Yadav, discovered his mother deceased in her apartment after a neighbor reported unanswered calls. Missing from the residence were approximately eight sovereigns of gold and diamond jewelry, silver articles, and ₹2,000 in cash. Police successfully recovered these stolen items and the two-wheeler used in the commission of the crime.
Investigations revealed that Menaka alias Ammu, 36, who had been employed as Radha's domestic helper for five months, conspired with Mouli alias Chandramouli, 26, and Manikandan, 24. The trio allegedly entered Radha's home on the evening of August 13, strangled her, and fled with her valuables. Chandramouli has prior criminal cases pending against him.
All three accused have been remanded to judicial custody after being produced before a magistrate court on Friday.
