Three individuals, two of whom were autorickshaw drivers, were apprehended in Chennai for the abduction, assault, and robbery of two hotel employees. The victims were walking home after work when they were forced into an autorickshaw, driven to a secluded area, assaulted, and robbed of ₹7,500 and two mobile phones. They were also threatened against reporting the incident.
Acting on a complaint filed by one of the victims, a special police team reviewed CCTV footage and vehicle registration details. This led to the swift arrest of Shankar and Ibrahim Khan, who were traced to Jaynagar Second Street. The third accused, Karthik, was apprehended near Koyambedu market.
Investigations revealed that Ibrahim Khan had prior cases of murder and assault, while Karthik had a registered robbery case from 2023. Authorities successfully recovered two autorickshaws, knives, the stolen mobile phones, and the cash, bringing the case to a close.
