In November 2020, Carter returned home from a night shift to find police cars outside her father's house. Officers informed her that a body had been found inside. When asked about potential threats, Carter identified Harris, admitting she always anticipated trouble for him but not such extreme violence.
Investigators later revealed Harris had murdered three other individuals in the weeks prior to her father's death: Jaden Urrea in late October 2020, followed by Adam Gautreau and Kenneth Jerome Hamilton within two weeks. Carter, now estranged from Harris, expressed shock and sadness for all victims and their families. She believes life in prison is the appropriate punishment and finds relief in knowing he can no longer harm anyone, including herself and her children.
