Charlotte Shooting Suspect Arrested Near Atlanta

Marques Fleming, 25, was arrested on Tuesday in connection with a Sunday morning shooting in West Charlotte. The incident saw 32 rounds fired into a Wabash Avenue home, resulting in a male victim being shot in the arm and a 27-year-old woman sustaining serious injuries.

Twelve individuals were affected by the shooting, including four minors: two 2-year-olds, a 6-year-old, and a 15-year-old. Evidence at the scene indicated bullets had damaged windows and the door frame.

Fleming was apprehended by the FBI outside Atlanta, having allegedly fled Mecklenburg County after the shooting. He is currently held in Walton County Jail and awaits extradition.

This is not Fleming's first legal entanglement. He faced charges in 2020 for the murder of a 46-year-old man near Independence Boulevard and was released in 2021 on a $250,000 bond with house arrest conditions. Officials have not yet specified the new charges he will face.
