A violent home invasion occurred recently in east Charlotte, leading to multiple charges against a suspect. Officers responded to a call on Friday night and arrested 29-year-old Aleksandros Soutzos.
Soutzos faces charges including attempted first-degree murder, first-degree arson, first-degree burglary, kidnapping, and assault. Authorities allege he broke into a Herrin Avenue residence, assaulted the occupant with a table leg, and restrained him. He then reportedly attempted to set the house on fire using gasoline.
Neighbors shared that the victim managed to escape and seek help from nearby homes. They also noted that the property is a rental and has been a source of ongoing issues for the neighborhood for years, with one resident describing it as a 'problem house'. The suspect is currently in custody.
