A significant narcotics investigation conducted by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the FBI has resulted in the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of substantial contraband. The operation targeted a kilo-level cocaine distributor operating on Charlotte's east side.
Following several weeks of surveillance at residences on Old Mt. Holly Huntersville Road and Rocky River Church Road, officers initiated a vehicle stop on August 18th. This stop led to the discovery of approximately one kilogram of suspected cocaine and over $69,000 in cash, resulting in the arrest of Jose Ismael Fernandez, 29, and Marlon Alexis Fernandez-Calix, 36.
Subsequent search warrants executed on August 19th at the identified residences yielded an additional approximately 12 kilograms of suspected cocaine, 18 grams of suspected fentanyl, 11 firearms, and approximately $130,000 in cash. Derek Reid, 44, and Andre Desmond Chisholm, 40, were arrested in connection with these findings. They face charges including trafficking cocaine and fentanyl, firearm possession by a felon, and conspiracy.
During the searches, a total of nine people were detained. Authorities have indicated that additional charges are anticipated as the investigation progresses.
