A father in Hethersett, Norfolk, has been left devastated after thieves stole money from a Christmas display created in memory of his late son, Finnbar. The wishing well, a key feature of the annual festive display, was targeted overnight between December 8 and 9, 2025. The charity, Finnbar's Force, provides essential support, including therapy and aid for parents and siblings of children diagnosed with cancer.
The hand-crafted wishing well, a beloved local attraction since 2017, had raised over $40,000 in previous years. The theft not only resulted in financial loss but also caused significant damage to the display, deeply disheartening the organizer. Norfolk police are currently investigating and appealing for witnesses and doorbell camera footage.
Following the incident, the father expressed initial despair about continuing the display. However, the community's response has been overwhelmingly positive, with numerous offers to repair the wishing well and replace the stolen funds. This heartwarming support has helped restore much of the lost money and bolstered spirits.
