In Lively, the death of 19-year-old Roch (Rocco) Reneaud from carbon monoxide poisoning on May 23, 2025, has led to serious charges. Two men, Craig Boyer, 59, and Dennis Beaudry, 53, along with Sunswim Pool Concepts and Design Limited, are each facing a charge of criminal negligence causing death.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) assumed responsibility for the investigation on June 18, 2025, at the request of the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) chief, citing an institutional conflict. This followed an earlier GSPS investigation initiated on June 13, 2025, into the conduct of two off-duty officers present at the residence on the day of the incident.
No update has been provided regarding the GSPS investigation into the two officers, who were suspended with pay. The accused individuals have been released and are scheduled to appear in court again on January 6, 2027. The OPP North East Region Crime Unit, in conjunction with the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Reneaud's death.
