The recent death of 28-year-old Punjabi social media influencer Manjeet Kaur, who had approximately 1.46 lakh Instagram followers, has prompted significant concern nearly two months after her alleged abduction from Chandigarh. Her mother filed a complaint detailing a horrific sequence of events.
Kaur was purportedly lured to Sector 34 by acquaintances identified as Shubhi and Pinda on the night of July 3-4. She was allegedly assaulted, abducted, and transported to a wooded area near Morinda. There, she was reportedly tied to a tree and set alight.
She sustained severe burns and passed away on August 26 at PGIMER. A subsequent autopsy revealed Kaur was nearly seven weeks pregnant. The investigation is further complicated by questions surrounding the police response, particularly after reports that Kaur regained consciousness and expressed a desire to record her statement.
An First Information Report (FIR) has been registered naming Shubhi and Pinda on August 27, as authorities continue to investigate the disturbing case.
