In Azamgarh, a daring attempt by cattle smugglers to steal livestock from a gaushala was foiled on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. Alert villagers and the local head quickly alerted the police to the raid in Parnkunda, Ajmatgarh development block.
While the smugglers managed to escape before law enforcement arrived, their getaway vehicle was seized. Police found and recovered four cattle from the van, returning them to the gaushala. The authorities have confirmed that 90 cattle were present at the facility at the time of the incident.
Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the individuals involved. Officials, including the SDM Sagdi and chief development officer, visited the gaushala to assess the situation and noted a lack of security arrangements. Efforts are underway to strengthen protections for the remaining animals.
