In Shropshire, a man stands accused of murdering a disabled individual whose body remained undiscovered for approximately 12 days. Leon Pratt, 64, was found deceased and decomposing in his home on October 26, 2026, after neighbours raised concerns. Paramedics arriving at the scene were informed by Jason Trundle, 52, that Mr. Pratt had been dead for about 12 days.
Trundle had been living with Mr. Pratt, providing him with daily care after they met online. Mr. Pratt, who had significant health issues and mobility challenges, had invited Trundle to live with him. The court heard that Trundle claimed he had nowhere else to go.
Upon investigation, paramedics noted a foul odor emanating from the property. Mr. Pratt's body was found wrapped in a duvet. A post-mortem examination revealed Mr. Pratt suffered extensive internal injuries, including multiple rib fractures and injuries to his throat and neck, consistent with manual strangulation.
Trundle has admitted to preventing a lawful burial and fraud, having used Mr. Pratt's bank card. He has also admitted to manslaughter, though the Crown argues the evidence points to murder, alleging intent to cause at least serious harm.
Concerns were previously raised by neighbours who had not seen Mr. Pratt since late September 2026. Trundle had reportedly told neighbours that Mr. Pratt was unwell and had become agitated, leading to him being placed in a headlock.
