13 Feb
Summary
- A finance administrator stole over £200,000.
- The fraud occurred over a six-year period.
- She was caught after a new staff member noticed a payment.

A former finance administrator has been sentenced to two years and six months in prison for defrauding her employer out of over £212,000. Elizabeth Henderson, 66, from Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, orchestrated a complex scheme over a six-year period, from January 2018 to April 2024.
During her employment at a care home off Hockley Road, Henderson abused her position to repeatedly pay herself using legitimate supplier invoices. Her fraudulent activities were discovered when a recently hired finance team member identified an £800 payment to Henderson herself, curiously described as 'Tesco milk'.
Following the discovery, Henderson was dismissed from her role. Staffordshire Police investigated the elaborate deceit, piecing together the full extent of her offending. Henderson pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of position and was subsequently sentenced at Stafford Crown Court.
