Leicestershire Police intercepted and dispersed an illegal car cruise event in Castle Donington on Saturday night. During the operation, officers seized a Volkswagen after its driver attempted to block the road, reportedly to recreate a scene from a movie.
Valley Beat officers confirmed the vehicle seizure, noting the driver was not "Vin Diesel" and faced consequences. Police have obtained significant footage of the event and warned that drivers involved can expect further action, including fines.
Car cruising and dangerous driving have been persistent problems in Castle Donington for years. To combat this, CCTV and ANPR were installed in 2012, and a Public Spaces Protection Order was introduced in 2021, later extended in 2024.
Enforcement actions like the one on Saturday have become routine. PCSO Mike Walker emphasized the serious consequences of such events, recalling a past incident where he assisted a spectator after a car cruise ended in disaster, highlighting the risk to life involved.
