A homicide suspect ended his life by suicide on Saturday following a wild police chase that began in Camarillo and concluded in Westchester. The suspect was sought in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred just before noon on Walker Avenue in Camarillo, where the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies located the suspect's vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the individual fled, triggering a pursuit. The suspect reportedly reached speeds exceeding 100 mph on the southbound 101 Freeway, at times evading visual contact by deputies. Los Angeles police subsequently took over the chase on the 405 Freeway.
The driver eventually stopped his vehicle. Shortly after stopping, authorities confirmed that the suspect died by suicide inside the car. The Ventura County Sheriff's Department is leading the investigation into both the homicide and the circumstances surrounding the pursuit and the suspect's death. The identities of the victim and the suspect have not yet been released.
