Essex Police executed a warrant on Thursday morning at a residential property in Eastwood, Southend-on-Sea, uncovering a large-scale cannabis cultivation operation. Officers from the Proactive Problem Solving Team discovered 211 mature cannabis plants concealed within a back room. This area was equipped with artificial lighting, fans, and heaters, indicating a significant setup for illicit drug production.
The home had been dangerously rewired to support the operation, raising suspicions of organized criminal gang involvement. A man was apprehended at the scene on suspicion of producing a Class B drug and abstracting electricity. The seized plants were subsequently destroyed by law enforcement, who are actively pursuing such gangs to disrupt their funding of further criminal activities and enhance street safety.
