A Yaak resident, Caleb Daniel Covey, 40, was sentenced on Monday in Lincoln County District Court to 15 years with 10 suspended for a felony burglary conviction. Covey has been in custody since his arrest on November 10, 2025, for allegedly assaulting a woman. He pleaded guilty to the amended charge as part of a plea deal.
Covey's sentencing also addressed a petition to revoke his probation related to a 2024 police chase spanning Montana and Idaho. This probation was part of a 20-year suspended sentence from June 2025 for previous charges. His probation violations included alleged abuse of Wellbutrin and speaking with a county jail inmate about evading detection.
Furthermore, a new court order now prohibits Covey from contacting his mother, Pam. It was revealed she drove him to the residence where the alleged assault occurred. Covey also faces a potential placement at the Connections Corrections Program in Butte, Montana.
