Businessman's Tragic Murder-Suicide Shakes Injambakkam Community

In a shocking incident that has shaken the Injambakkam community in Chennai, a 45-year-old businessman named Chiranjeevi Damodar Gupta killed his wife Revathi, 36, and their two sons Rithvik, 15, and Dixit Ashwa, 11, before taking his own life on October 22, 2025.

Chiranjeevi, who ran a CCTV camera showroom on Anna Salai, had been struggling with debts for nearly 10 years and had taken out several loans worth crores of rupees to keep his business afloat. Police suspect that the crippling financial pressures and business losses ultimately drove him to this tragic act.

During their investigation, authorities found a suicide note signed by both Chiranjeevi and Revathi, stating that no one was responsible for their deaths and that they could not repay their debts. Police believe Chiranjeevi may have sedated his family before killing them, as there were no signs of a struggle. He is suspected to have smothered his wife and children using plastic sheets and slit his wife's throat before taking his own life.
