A heated business dispute over a $20-million apartment complex culminated in a violent confrontation and a police pursuit. Zhengfeng Bo, 67, allegedly kidnapped his business associate, Shukur Aikebaer, 60, from Aikebaer's Chino Hills home.
Investigators report Bo shot Aikebaer, then placed him in the trunk of a car. A high-speed chase ensued, ending when deputies cornered the vehicle. As deputies approached, Bo reportedly returned to the driver's seat, then went to the trunk and fatally shot Aikebaer inside.
Police then opened fire, killing Bo. Jianquan Bo, a passenger in the car, was arrested on suspicion of murder and kidnapping. The motive remains under investigation, though the men shared a prior working relationship through their Irvine-based firm, Panshi Inc.
Bo's attorney expressed shock, describing his client as a calm and reasonable person, unaware of any adversarial relationship between the partners prior to the incident.
